What is Engineered Hardwood Flooring?

Engineered Hardwood Flooring is made up of layers of plywood which is finished with a layer of real wood veneer over the top which gives the look and feel of solid hardwood at a fraction of the cost. The top veneer wood layer varies in thickness and this gives flexibility in the quality and price.

What are the Benefits of Engineered Wood Flooring

Engineered hardwood has become more and more popular in the last few years and is one of the preferred choices when people are looking for hardwood flooring.

Quite simply, its popularity is due to the benefits it offers over other flooring options.

Parador Engineered Hardwood flooring is stylish and timeless, whether you are looking for a traditional or contemporary modern look then Parador Hardwood Flooring delivers natural lines and patterns that are pleasing to the eye.

Parador Engineered Hardwood Flooring can be designed to accommodate any look and style and can be used in nearly every room of your home or business. Whether you are looking for wide boards, slim boards, parquet design or anything else then there are so many styles, tones and colours to choose from in the different ranges.

Installing is easy, always use a good underlay and follow the instructions that come with your Parador Engineered Hardwood Flooring. Parador offers underlay solutions to perfectly match your new Parador flooring.

Cleaning Parador Engineered Hardwood Flooring is easy and it is a great flooring option if you have pets or children where spills are more likely. Sweep with a soft brush or vacuum it with a hard flooring device regularly as this keeps it free from dust and grit which can cause minor scuffs and scratches. Wipe up any spills quickly to minimise the likelihood of staining. Wipe over with a damp soft cloth or mop. Don't wet the flooring as this can damage it and get in between the boards. Parador offers a range of cleaning solutions for a perfect Parador finish.

If any part of your Parador Flooring gets damaged which would normally on be scratches or dents then repairing it is very easy. A simple buff and recoat are normally all that is needed or if the damage is more severe then simply replace the board that is damaged. Parador offers a range of repair solutions to help you repair any damage that can occur easily.

Sanding and Refinishing

When your Parador Engineered Flooring finally looks tired and this won't be for many many years then as it has a hardwood top layer then it can be sanded and revarnished. Always be aware that engineered wooden flooring with less than 2 mm thick top hardwood layer cannot withstand sanding. Parador also offers a range of oils and finishing products.

Engineered Wood Flooring Questions & Answers

What is engineered wood flooring?

Engineered wood flooring is made up of constructed core boards that are layers and layers of plywood bonded together. The boards are then finished with a lamella or top layer of solid wood, which is what makes engineered wood flooring look and feel just like solid wood.

Is engineered wood flooring the same as laminate flooring?

Engineered wood flooring is made of plywood with a veneer of fine hardwood as the top layer. Laminate flooring is made of a thin, pressed wood board,  the top layer has an image of wood printed on it which is then covered by a clear "wear layer" to protect the image.

Is engineered wood flooring cheaper than hardwood?

Even engineered wood flooring finished with highly-coveted wood such as maple tend to be cheaper overall. Some of the more common hardwoods can be cheaper than engineered wood flooring, however, it takes longer to install. Engineered wood flooring is cleverly constructed making it easy to slot in place and install, making it a real winner over hardwood flooring.

How long will engineered wood flooring last?

This really depends on the thickness of the top layer and how much wear and tear it goes through. The best quality engineered wood floors can last just as long as solid hardwood flooring.

What colour does engineered wood flooring come in?

Engineered wood flooring comes in many different colours from light to dark. Whatever you are looking for then you will find it; wood effect and colour, thin to wide boards, there really are so many choices.
