Umberslade has overall responsibility for the Wapping Wharf regeneration project. It is a family-owned property development company, headed up by director Stuart Hatton and is planning to retain a long-term interest in the project.

Community benefits that are part of the Wapping Wharf scheme include: £1.5 million for M Shed, the museum of Bristol; the redevelopment of Museum Square, a public events space by the waterfront; the extension of Museum Street and newly commissioned public art throughout the development.
